some leftists looking for trouble absolutely attacked pro-Trump supporters in DC last night -- saw it for myself. harassment, intimidation, and worse incl. the firecracker that was thrown at Trump supporters dining on the PJ Clarke patio

but *both sides* have bad actors:

1/
after a day of mostly peaceful pro-Trump support all over DC, when it got dark things turned ugly around BLM plaza. sure, some Trump voters went looking for trouble, but others just to walk around in MAGA hats in their capitol city - as is their right

2/
but there’s an unshakable intolerance that some on “both” sides have for supporters of the other. a man in a Trump tee-shirt pushing a bike got screamed at, harassed, and had water thrown at him simply for his shirt.

the tense scene outside the Capital Hilton was terrible

3/
the moral here is that in “both” camps — anti- and pro-Trump — the VAST majority are there in good-faith: to proudly protest, cheer, or support whatever they want.

it's as true for the Women’s March as it is the MAGA March.

4/
but there are opportunists (a few, but they’re there) on both sides looking to start shit. and find it.

those are the images you see on twitter, but they're not representative of the full story. the actions from extremists - proud boys, antifa - all deserve condemnation

5/
but -- most importantly -- those alarming images can’t supplant the intensions of the 99%+ of Americans in both camps who otherwise show up to let their voices be heard, as is their 1A right.

what a country we live in where people can peaceably assemble. that's the story.
