All the typically rebellious groups really into masks, and Christians are suddenly rebels who want to gather/share meals/ sing/ see faces etc.

I have a theory why this is. We have real but invisible guilt. We have sin that leads to death. And a culture that feels this tremendous guilt KNOWS that something must be done about it. Covid is a science sounding stand in for the problem of sin.

This is why Christians going bare faced and smiling is a shock- and anyone who has done it knows that it feels pretty much as gutsy as standing up on a bench in the grocery store to share your testimony.

A smiling face this season is big news- the news that there is such a thing as freedom from guilt, and that you have it.
