I've been asked quite a few questions about why one of Sask's biggest cities would intentionally divert admissions as part of the surge plan. A common question is "I thought you spent months planning for this, why is this necessary?" 1/x https://twitter.com/CBCAlerts/status/1327599929687207936
This IS part of the plan. Balancing all the patients who need ICU care across the ICUs across the province helps maintain safety and sustainability. Having one city surging while another city has available staff isn't a good way to support teams and care 2/x
Saskatchewan ICUs can and will expand further as much as we can. But the best strategy is to have you do everything you can to prevent the spread of COVID 3/x
COVID has taught us that if you or someone you love becomes so sick you need to be treated by me or my colleagues, you or your loved one has a very high risk of dying. So save a life, stay home, wear a mask, and keep us all safe. 4/4 #COVID19SK
