Someone asked Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad (rh) if we can close our eyes in sajdah:

“Are you keeping your eyes open in front of me? Why not close them?”

The person hesitated. Huzoor continued:

"Your soul tells you it’s not appropriate to speak to one w/ your eyes closed"
Huzoor (rh) used the exemplary model of the Holy Prophet (sa) who said that one should feel as if one is standing in front of God, as if one sees Him, and if not, then at least feel as if Allah is watching you.
Huzoor (rh) further explained that apart from our eyes being opened, we should keep our eyes low so we are concentrated in our prayers. We should not keep our eyes up because if we did that, then we'd be distracted by anyone coming and going past us.
