BREAKING: SA now has 17 new #COVID19Aus cases. 15 of them are part of the original family, 2 are not family members but are linked. These have only come to light over the weekend. Chief Public Health Officer Nicola Spurrier on @abcadelaide now.
2 of the cases are aged care workers at the same facility and worked while infectious. 1 of the cases is an employee at Yatala prison. @abcadelaide
Prof. Nicola Spurrier says “it’s very clear’ these cases have come from one of our medi-hotels. @SAHealth still awaiting genomic testing to work our exactly how but they know this cluster stemmed from an international traveller. @abcadelaide
Prof. Spurrier says some international arrivals into SA may be cancelled as a result of this new cluster, “we have to put our resources 100% into this cluster”. @abcadelaide
Two of the cases are in the #RoyalAdelaideHospital because of their age, not their condition. Other cluster members are in medi-hotels. Not in the public. @abcadelaide
Prof. Spurrier says it’s “too early to tell” if #SouthAustralia will need to go back into lockdown as a result of this cluster. @abcadelaide
A Hungry Jacks worker at Port Adelaide also worked while infectious. The fast food outlet has been closed for deep cleaning. @abcadelaide
A lot of this information isn’t yet on the @SAHealth website but the #covid hotline is 1800 253 787 if you have any questions/concerns. @abcadelaide
So far here’s a list of closures (the ones we know so far):
-Mawson Lakes Primary and Preschool
-Parafield Plaza Supermarket
-Hungry Jack’s Port Adelaide
-Thomas More College

Other facilities affected:
-Yatala Labour Prison
-An unidentified aged care home
@abcadelaide
A pop-up testing clinic will be setup in Parafield today, so local residents can easily get tested. @SAHealth reminding people in local community to get tested at any sign of symptoms - sore throat, runny nose, cough, loss of taste or smell etc. @abcadelaide
Police Commissioner Grant Stevens says we could be forced to implement “quite wide restrictions” maybe “similiar to what we saw in March” if this cluster gets too out of control. But that would very much depend on how bad it gets. @abcadelaide
