Why Pablo Zabaleta is the best RB of all-time in the Premier League. 🇦🇷
(And proving it 😎)
Zabaleta has always been an incredibly versatile player, playing across the whole defence and midfield in his career.
He’s featured even at LB, LM, CM, and CDM!
The Argentinian's favoured and most known position is RB. 🤯
The defender managed to rake up 31 assists in 515 games, getting 24 goals in the process, most famous being the first against QPR in 2012, lobbing the keeper at a short distance.
Out of his goals, 5 of them were game-winning goals. 👑
He’s always been consistent and a world-class player.
His interceptions, concentration, and being able to put his body on the line for the team were his most noticeable traits.
He racked up an amazing 113 blocks (1st) in the 2017/18 PL season! 🚫
His weaknesses, although not many, were mainly his crossing and long-distance passing, his average pass completion percentage being just 73.3%. 🙄
Short pass completion was 87%, a noticeable difference to his average, his long passing being just 45.2% on average.
Zabaleta’s career has a nice collection of awards and trophies. 🏆
2 Premier League’s, 1 FA Cup, 2 League Cups, 1 Spanish Cup, 1 Community Shield, 1 Olympic Gold Medal, and a U20 World Cup. 🏅
He was also included in the PFA PL TOTY in the 2012/13 season, got 3 Man City POTM awards in January 2009, December 2012, and January 2013, and was in the FIFPro World XI 5th team in 2013 and 2014. 🌍
Pablo Zabaleta wasn’t an injury-prone player, he was very tough and only missed 29 games in his career due to injury. 🤕
He missed 8 games due to red cards, 114 yellow cards. He was available for 95% of games in his career, and astounding amount. ❌
Zabaleta, being a traditional defensive RB, had a low dribble success, but also a low dribbled past percentage. His aerial duels percentage is just 50%, but that is justified by his height, standing at just 176cm (5’7). 🧍‍♂️
He got the most wins against Stoke, Man United, Chelsea, West Brom, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Newcastle (10). He lost the most games to Everton (9). He had the most goals against Stoke (2), no other team conceded 2 in all games. He had the most assists against Newcastle (3). ⏳
His highest ever market value was €19m for Man City.💰
His biggest win was a 7-0 win against Norwich in 2013 for Man City. His biggest loss came for Espanyol, losing 5-0 to Getafe in 2006. He got 2 goal involvements in 1 game against Fulham in 2010 and Hull City in 2014. ⚽️
