Once again, I'm going to destroy the Trump narrative that the Steele Dossier was wrong. This thread is going to break it down for simpletons. First, you need to understand how intelligence gathering works for an organization like Fusion GPS.
Organizations like them have to heavily rely on Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) because of limited resources to get:
Human Intelligence (HUMINT)
Signals Intelligence (SIGINT)
Imagery/Geospatial Intelligence (IMINT/GEOINT)
Measurement and Signature Intelligence (MASINT)
Now what made the Steele Dossier a bit more unique than the average run of the mill investigation is that Christopher Steele, a Russian intelligence expert was hired to use his HUMINT methods to uncover information and themes.
The HUMINT collected by Steele and the various reports provided by him to Fusion GPS was raw intelligence but the most important elements were the themes and key topics. It was never meant to be 100% accurate as that takes time to validate the sources and subsources.
The Steele Dossier did deliver accurate reports and as much as the Russians, Trump, and others want to denigrate the credentials of Igor Danchenko, it does not eliminate most of the 10 themes.
1. Russia Cultivating Trump for Years
2. Russia Supporting Trump Campaign
3. Russia’s Cyber Operations for Trump
4. Kompromat on Trump
5. Cohen’s Role and Trip to Prague
6. Kompromat on Clinton
7. Carter Page, a Russian Agent
8. Paul Manafort in Ukraine
9. Pension Fraud by Russia
10. Putin and Alpha Bank
On Trump cultivation, KGB had a file started in late 70s after marrying his ex-wife Ivana Zelnickova and monitored her trips with Donald Jr to Czechoslovakia. Russian Army pilot David Bogatin's 5 condo, $6 million purchase in 1984 likely caught Trump's attention for Russian $.
In 1986, former Ambassador Yuri Dubinin and his daughter happened to be seated next to Trump at a luncheon given by Leonard Lauder. By January 1987, Dubinin and the Soviets set their bait on the hook, which Trump was all too eager to accept, when he received a letter from Dubinin
Letter stated, “It is a pleasure for me to relay some good news from Moscow.” It went on to say that the leading Soviet state agency for international tourism, Moscomintourist, had expressed interest in pursuing a joint venture to construct and manage a hotel in Moscow.”
Months later in July 1987, Trump visited Russia and toured “a half dozen potential sites for a hotel, including several near Red Square.” “I was impressed with the ambition of Soviet officials to make a deal,” he writes in the Art of the Deal.
While that deal was unsuccessful, Trump still desired a hotel in Moscow. In Nov. 1996, he traveled to Moscow to visit potential Trump Tower sites with Howard Lorber, president and CEO of the Vector Group, a holding company with various business interests in Russia.
Sep. 2008, Trump Jr tells eTurboNews, “...Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets; say in Dubai, and certainly with our project in SoHo and anywhere in New York. We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.”
Trump Jr’s comments came just months after his father sold his Palm Beach mansion for $95 million to Dmitry Ryobovlev, more than doubling his $41 million investment in 2004.
June 2013, Donald Trump, alongside Aras and Emin Agalarov, announced an agreement to host the 2013 Miss Universe in Moscow for $20 million. It would begin a relationship with the Russian developer that would become all too fruitful for Putin’s operation.
November 2013, Trump was to meet Vladimir Putin while visiting Moscow for Miss Universe but Putin backed off and sent a lacquered box with a sealed letter (content is unknown).
During this same trip, Trump and Agalarov agreed to build Trump Tower Moscow.
In 2015, Trump said of the trip, “I was with the top-level people, both oligarchs and generals, and top-of-the-government people. I can’t go further than that, but I will tell you that I met the top people, and the relationship was extraordinary.”
In Aug '14, Eric Trump tells reporter “we don’t rely on American banks. We have all the funding we need out of Russia... we've got some guys that really, really love golf, and they’re really invested in our programs. We just go there all the time."
2. Russia Supporting the Trump Campaign was blatant with their hacking of the DNC/Podesta emails, working with Trump Jr, Stone, Bannon and Prince to coordinate the WikiLeaks campaign with Russian cutouts, Trump Jr's June 9th meeting & Trump Tower Moscow negotiations.
3. Russia's Cyber Operations resulted in numerous charges against Russians, notably Putin's chef Yevgeny Prigozhin.
4. Kompromat on Trump has been the controversial topic as no pee tape has been leaked to the public but based on Trump's sexual endeavors with Stormy Daniels and others, there's been hints the CIA and others are aware of embarrassing information.
While the salacious aspect of this would be historically embarrassing in a public leak and though significantly could impact one's ability to govern, this topic was never going to be confirmed publicly as it would require tape and pictures.
5. The second most controversial topic and one that has garnered more attacks on the veracity of the dossier was the supposed trip to Prague for Cohen. This appears to be a Russian plant of information to discredit Steele and his sources.
This topic even had McClatchy reporters stating this was a thing and a disgraced intelligence 'expert' said SIGINT traced showed cellphone activity. Cohen is adamant he's never been to Czech Republic or participated in any meeting of this kind.
6. The Kompromat on Clinton never really came to fruition beyond the Wikileaks/Russia hack operation with emails.
7. Carter Page continues to deny he's a Russian agent but his history states otherwise prior to Trump involvement and then during/after his campaign work.
8. Paul Manafort, nothing really else to say here, he's serving jail time and guilty as hell.
9. Pension Fraud by Russia, Mikhail Kalugin was recalled from his job at the Russian embassy, it was later reported the U.S. govt had him under investigation for his involvement as a possible spy and involvement with illegal funds movement related to the Russian pension program.
10. Putin and Alpha Bank
- We’re not sure where Steele was going with Alpha Bank in relation to his task on Trump but it was reported by Slate in October 2016 that servers located at Alpha Bank in Moscow and Trump Tower in New York City were communicating with each other.
After a NY Times reporter met with a Alpha Bank representative in Washington D.C., Trump Organization shutdown their server and four days later, created a new host name and right back to communicating with Alpha Bank until more questions were asked about it.
