As many Irish women will attest, Ireland historically has been an extremely difficult place for women to have representation and to be heard. Misogyny in Ireland is still rife yet today under a different guise. The graphs below show just how underrepresented Irish women are. 1/4
Surely the best way to resolve this huge disparity would be to give women more of a voice? To empower women by providing the opportunities to make decisions on behalf of all Irish women and girls.

In response to this sexist imbalance in employment in Ireland @NWCI have decided to employ Sara Philips of the scandal hit org @TENI_tweets. Sara is now making key decisions affecting women & girls. Sara will help push up women’s employment stats. This is a good thing right?

Wrong. Sara is in fact a trans identifying male. The stats will say women are being represented more. The stats will say women’s employment figures are up. But in fact it’s same old same old. Men still calling the shots in Ireland circa 2020.
While Sara is as entitled to employment as everyone else, to promote this trans identifying male to a position of such influence and power in a women’s organisation is quite simply appalling. Irish women deserve better.
