We have significant barriers in fighting the spread of COVID-19. We don't have adequate contact tracing. We don't have a consitent testing strategy. As a consequence, we don't know where it's coming from.

Targeted shutdowns are not in fact targeted at all. Absent knowing true prevelance and contact tracing to identify the source of major outbreaks, we are actually doing random shutdowns.

I propose a solution similar to Slovakia, but a little different. Slovakia tested 2/3 of their population in 2 days. They found about 50,000 unexpected cases and quarantined those who tested positive.

If we had a complete shutdown of the GTA and Peel for 3 days with a testing blitz and quarantine of the infected, it could act like a circuit breaker event. If we then repeated the project 14 days later, we could massively reduce the number of carriers in the population.

We need to think big, look at other areas that have been successful, and not be afraid to do things differently

Let's start pushing in a different direction, and let's get back to normal.
