“Womxn and Femmes” https://twitter.com/ProfessorGutian/status/1327371713617698816
We can start with Womxn, although said often with good intention, the idea is that Womxn makes a conscious recognition of trans women.

however, if we recognize that women are women and trans women are women, what purpose does it serve to make this deliberate separation.
It inadvertently removes trans woman from womanhood and maintains them in a separate category. Also, womxn was a term born in terf circles as was womyn and wombyn
Femme is, a doozy for sure. The issue for starters is there isn’t really a consensus on who is being categorized in “Femmes”.

Cis gay men, Trans women, non-binary people, it treats femininity as this self contained category and doesn’t recognize power structures.
To treat femininity as an equal category and failing to recognize the power dynamics that exist between cis gay men and trans women fails to recognize the violence of patriarchy and further perpetuates transphobia and even lesbophobia because the other side of the coin is-
-masculine lesbians are therefore the same as men simply due to being masculine despite themselves being subjected to the violence of patriarchy.
While we’re talking about lesbians it is important to note that femme is a Lesbian specific term. I will leave the explanation of Femme in lesbian circles to Butch and Femme lesbians that have already made threads about this before me.
Specifically with non-binary this usage of Femmes is often directed at non-binary folks who personally do not associate themselves with womanhood or femininity but in the minds of cis people are treated as Woman-Lite. In a roundabout way they continue to maintain bioessentialism.
I also want to pose this question, because often we are told “protect women and femmes ❤️” but I ask, are Butch lesbians not worthy of protection??? Does masculinity make them less deserving of such protection? He/him lesbians?
