Here’s my personal PREDICTION on how the Touya became Dabi:
As Touya grew weaker because Rei’s gene got stronger, they decided to have Natsuo and Shouto. When Touya cannot handle the heat anymore, he completely STOPPED training him (that’s why he was seen playing)
Here’s my personal PREDICTION on how the Touya became Dabi:
As Touya grew weaker because Rei’s gene got stronger, they decided to have Natsuo and Shouto. When Touya cannot handle the heat anymore, he completely STOPPED training him (that’s why he was seen playing)
Enji was happy that he finally got Shouto, the son with THE quirk. But while having the “perfect quirk”, Shouto wasn’t as eager as Touya when it comes to training (as seen on the panel) and it made Enji got impatient and abused him.
Also having the son with the perfect quirk in front of him, he was blinded by his own ambition to make Shouto as strong as possible, and at that time, he didn’t realize the consequences of the pressure he put on Shouto
Because his focus was ONLY on Shouto, Rei and the 3 kids felt neglected by Enji, but the one that had it the worst was Touya, because he used to be THE child his dad spent his time the most. Thus making him question his existence, and got REALLY jealous of Shouto.
Please also note that there was no hint (yet) of Enji physically abusing Touya, Fuyumi, and Natsuo in the story. It was explicitly shown that he physically abuse Shouto during training, and abused Rei for trying to get in the way of the training.
In order to get his dad’s attention back, Touya trained by himself until the temperature got too high and his body suffered damage (got cremated). Considering how much he craved for his dad’s acknowledgement, he wouldn’t want his dad to see his “failure”, so he escaped...
...On his escape, he then met Stain (just like Shiggy met AFO) and liked his ideology. With his envy towards Shouto, and hatred towards his dad who “threw” him away, he then became villain.

Uuuu adding this to the main thread as well~ so there’s a possibility that he simply refused to go back home after his cremation incident because he failed and lost hope of getting Enji’s attention, until stain arc.
