I just want to address the implications of a Proud Boys account threatening "the day of the rope" for its enemies. The term is, at this point, a fairly notorious slogan that originated in the 1978 neo-Nazi dystopian novel 'The Turner Diaries.' https://twitter.com/areidross/status/1327866132414357506?s=20
The book was written by William Pierce, then the leader of National Alliance, which was one of a few orgs that claimed to be carrying on the legacy of George Lincoln Rockwell, founder of the American Nazi Party.
The novel is about a race war between an underground organization (cleverly called "the Organization") of courageous white militants and a Jewish-run US government with thuggish Black and Latino enforcers.
The chapter that describes "the day of the rope" begins with the words "Today has been the Day of the Rope-a grim and bloody day, but an unavoidable one." As is so often the case, fascists (even fictitious ones) justify their acts by saying the "had to" in self-defense.
What, exactly, is the Day of the Rope? As the book tells it, it comes at the end of a day of rioting stirred up by the Jewish leaders of "the System."
