1/ If I were leading the @bctf right now, during a pandemic — here are things I would do.
1. Hire a scientific consultant to advise the Federation and locals on COVID Science.
2. Based on that guidance, hold the govt accountable and ask to see their science. #bced #bcpoli

3. Create multi-platform science updates for members— masks, aerosolization, long-covid, asymptomatic spread, ventilation, etc.
4. Next, survey members, regularly, to see what issues are arising. These can be quick, w/ no writing, that require little analysis.

5. BCTF does not need a motion passed to do any of this. BCTF Exec director is in charge of staffing. Could and should hire science consultant.
6. As needed, have special SGMs where the science consultant updates LRs and LPs with status and concerns.

4/ Problem with #bced is there seems to be blind loyalty to the science the govt is providing.

To protect members, the Federation must hire an INDEPENDENT scientists to fact check what the govt is advising.

Much of the science PHO is providing is out of date.

5/ Dr. Sally Otto would be an excellent candidate to act as an Independent Science Consultant to the BCTF and has excellent credentials. Probably pretty busy though.
