0/ Since creating @theWIPmeetup in Jan., I've co-hosted & organized:

- 50 metaverse events
- 150+ guest speakers
- 10,000+ total attendees

Metaverse event types are varied and highly composable.

Here's a list of some of my favorite types of events👇 https://bit.ly/2UHamYB
1/ Community drops - gather a group if folks together in a virtual space to purchase a digital product

E.g., @Sinkas5's t-shirt wearable drop https://beta.cent.co/matthew/+wqo2py
2/ Gallery tours - live tours of a virtual gallery

e.g., the @skygolpe gallery tour in @SomniumSpace that @museumcryptoart organized https://twitter.com/MuseumofCrypto/status/1304826639788904449?s=19
3a/ Exhibitions & Art Shows - a fixed period where multiple people or artists are featured in a virtual context; often various sub-events or talks are sprinkled throughout the event

ex 1, the 'She Art Exhibition' organized by @theAngieTaylor https://alpacawhal.com/she-art-exhibition/
4/ Sandbox building - build rights to virtual land can be made public such that anyone in-world can make state-changing decisions; collaborative building

Walkabouts - simple walks around a virtual world or space with others
5/ Community games - rule-based games that large groups concurrently participate in (e.g., obstacle course races)

@johanunger of @marble_cards and the @nonfungerbils squad have created some insanely fun community games
6/ Thematic events - elaborate events held in a virtual world, usually over a longer time horizon with a specific theme

e.g., the @decentraland Moonshot World Cup, @mintbase's Xmas Advent Calendar event, and the @metalympics
7/ Quests - virtual puzzles; riddle-based treasure hunts

e.g.,  @n0shot's n0quests https://beta.cent.co/+eze2ef
8/ Launch parties - gatherings held specifically for the launch of a specific product or virtual build

QA tests & bug squashing - any metaverse gathering can be utilized as a live large-scale QA check and/or bug identifying exercise
9/ Pack openings - streams into virtual worlds showing folks opening packs of digital collectibles (e.g., @nba_topshot); there are many variations that can take on varying levels of community participation

@SteadyEdu is leading the charge here
10/ Listening & Viewing parties - bring folks into a virtual space to listen to a podcast (yours or someone elses) or watch something (live panel)

General updates - gather folks in a virtual world to listen to live updates; the most basic event type

e.g.,  @theWIPmeetup
11/ Big shoutout to @NFTland, @j1mmyeth, @trislit, @FrankyNeedles and the rest of the WIP Crew plus @DCLBlogger, @ASychov, @borgetsebastien and everyone else in the metaverse doing their part to bring life to the space by organizing metaverse events
