The assassin has been planning this for months, it would be so silly to leave traces & hints by mistake. He’s a professional, so he might‘ve different plans and I think that, if he really left traces, he probably did it on purpose and wants Seungho to follow him!

(Thread)
Since he knew that Seungho & Nakyum were at the doctor’s office and that Jihwa was at the tavern, it seems that he was actually keeping an eye out of the main couple’s movements, so to really make such a big mistake despite working on it for so long, wouldn’t make sense.
I think he had it all planned and organized, he’s smart. He told JW to stay out of the plan but, seeing how anxious JW was, it was natural for him to step in anyway and he knew it, so he anticipated JW’s mistake and used it in his favor (“You played a key role”).
Now, it looks like he’s trying to make an emotional impact on Jihwa by making him realize the severity of a murder, and that the only one responsible for the painter’s death would be him (“The choice is yours, my lord”), but I think he was doing it from the beginning.
Because he could sense Jihwa’s weak emotional capacity from the moment he went to hire him. If we follow the order of their interactions, the scenes always focus on the assassin’s perspective of Jihwa biting his fingers, Jihwa hesitating. He saw gradually Jihwa’s mental breakdown
So he tested his will from the start.
And I think back then he told Jihwa to stay home on purpose: he knew JW was anxious, so staying home without receiving news about the plan was going to make him think deeply about it & increase his regret. He purposely put him on that state
Because he knew from the very beginning that the murder wasn’t going to take place ‘cause Jihwa wasn’t going to withstand the guilt. Since he’s an assassin for hire, he probably has been hired before, so he knows already how to recognize if a client is determined or mistaken.
Jihwa might seem prideful, but he can’t hide how broken and miserable he feels inside from holding onto unrequited love for so many years. And deep down he knew and knows that Nakyum is important to Seungho bc in his dream he imagined SH looking devastated from seeing Nakyum dead
So now there’s a possibility that the assassin left traces purposely. Maybe to make SH follow him and personally confront Jihwa, ‘cause that way Jihwa would see SH standing up for NK and he‘d realize that murder won’t give him SH’s love, then his grief would end = Redemption arc
But there are lots of possibilities. Also if SH doesn’t go to look for NK, Min’s attempt to taste NK could happen if he steps in because he would even if JW doesn’t let him. But if he goes, there could be a fight. Though let’s stay positive, just 2 more weeks of waiting to know😭
