As for "bum equipment," much of Texas is still using paperless voting machines that, unlike the ones in Georgia and Pennsylvania, offer no way of conducting a hand recount or meaningful audit. Some have even used federal $ to buy *new* paperless machines: https://www.politico.com/story/2019/08/05/election-security-texas-1445537 https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1327956491056279552
The GOP-controlled Texas legislature has refused to require counties to buy paper-based voting machines. Democrats in Congress wanted to require and pay for paper-based machines, but Mitch McConnell blocked that legislation because he said it would be "nationalizing" elections.
Note, too, that heavily Democratic Texas counties like Travis and Harris *were* buying the more reliable paper-based machines, as we reported last year: https://www.politico.com/story/2019/08/05/election-security-texas-1445537
Recap: @RealDonaldTrump and his allies are making evidence-free assertions that voting machines were rigged in states like PA and GA where he lost, but seem OK with (and have even paid for) much *less* secure voting machines in states like TX that he won. https://www.politico.com/story/2019/08/05/election-security-texas-1445537
On the other hand, maybe Republicans' new interest in hand-marked paper ballots and post-election risk-limiting audits can lead to some bipartisan cooperation in the post-Trump era.
