Downticket candidates were not adjusting for the new early vote timelines
There was several of us who had this experience of advising a downticket candidates- and asking questions about the first day of early vote/ or mail in ballots and getting a dismissive response

I remember asking a Deputy CM abt when they expected mail in ballots to show up. I wanted to organize both digital and mail to correspond for that week and run the entire week.
He opened his laptop checked - gave me the wrong answer and thought nothing of it

Another operative I know gave a candidate running in a swing district advice to heavy spend the beginning of early vote.
Her GOTV consultant poo poo that and kept her budget towards the end of October. We know our vote in that state was all in the mail- in ballots. He was right

I heard of this happening all around the country.
Some operatives wanting to paint by numbers and not recognizing the timelines and methods for this race was different.

One of the things that stumped the Trump campaign is the number Biden voter that undervoted for the downticket- meaning they voted for no one else.
Not shocking at all.
Most likely they ran to vote early and didn’t have info on the other candidates at the time of their vote

Downticket candidates are also likely to not have enough money to do their own heavy polling. Some rely on polling from media outlets.
