I don't trust the Socialist-left worldview because it's this binary: The US / West is always the nasty aggressor and others always the victim.

It's crude, and in the modern world, usually wrong. There are other genocidal regimes / dictators, & the West isn't always on their side https://twitter.com/HackneyAbbott/status/1327882233533894656
This event also included activists who've been whitewashing Syria's genocidal dictator Assad, for years.

They do it by claiming they're victims of American imperialism, and parts of the left buy this horseshit.

Why? Because it fits that simplistic worldview.
Look at how parts of the left have ignored the recent genocide in Syria (500k+ dead) or started defending Assad as the victim.

Or how they've ignored / defended Maduro's crimes in Venezuela.

It's an utterly black / white view and leads people into very unsavoury alliances.
I'm not saying the centre-left get it right all the time either. I marched against the Iraq war and utterly opposed it. Too many in Labour made excuses for that.

The world is complicated not binary. We should judge each issue on its own merit.
Labour is caught in an endless cycle of factions fighting over every new issue through old battles.

There wasn't any real self reflection in Labour over Iraq, there won't be one over Syria and Venezuela either.

This isn't morally or intellectually defensible.
