Normally I limit posts to actionable info and upcoming local events, but tonight I am making an exception because tonight I am not okay. I got home from the hospital a couple hours ago, where I ended up bc my protest buddy was STABBED by fascist nazis in the street tonight. 1/
I had to call their emergency contact to tell them that an ambulance was on the way for their loved one. I cannot describe the anger I'm feeling right now. We were shoved, beaten, tackled, pepper sprayed, & stabbed. The cops were right there as we were attacked by Proud Boys. 2/
The same pigs who have been beating & pepper spraying & kettling & harassing us since June. In contrast, they were very proactive about protecting out-of-town white supremacists who explicitly planned to commit violence tonight. 3/
There are no good cops in a racist system. None. They could absolutely have prevented this violence if they'd used even a small fraction of the energy on policing the Proud Boys that they direct at us every single fucking week. 4/
To every liberal asshole who came out to BLM Plaza and drank champagne to celebrate Joe Biden but didn't show up tonight to make sure our most vulnerable community members weren't targeted, you should be ashamed. 5/
You engaged in atrocious colonizing behavior & need to do a ton of studying & thinking about the harm you did to our Black community members when you stood in a place named Black Lives Matter Plaza to celebrate a political win for a politician who does not support Black ppl. 6/
When you covered up the memorial to Black people whose lives were stolen by cops with political signs about Trump & Biden. When you got drunk on champagne & didn't wear a mask and especially endangered BBIPOC in the midst of a pandemic that has... 7/
...disproportionately harmed those especially vulnerable members of our community. And if you advocated for others to stay home today, you need to do some SERIOUS thinking about the privilege you possess. 8/
I am just so angry and so extremely hurt. I won't be posting here for a while; I need some time to deal with what happened tonight and to support my friend when they are released from the hospital. 9/
