A quick preface before responding.
Let's call entrprnr "owner," I think it's more fitting. You own the art I want.
There's a difference between being a freelancer & an owner.
For starters, freelance requires you to work IN the biz, owner means working ON the biz.

Freelance means your time & attn are involved in the process.
Owner means you go on vacation for a year & come back to see it's grown while you were away.

To make a living as a freelancer means balancing the time you have to create art (as an owner) vs. paying bills.
I hate that term, 'balance', btw. Because it implies a tradeoff.
Instead, seek harmony.
When it's working in harmony, life is good.
Seek work that earns you attn.

There's an art to it, meaning there is no one single way to do.
That's the fun part.
Commercial work shouldn't be the highest aspiration for an artist, but it will have a net positive-sum impact on your art.

As a creator, you're more than an owner, you have a skill (a power) that has the potential to shape the future.
We're all early in this game & my goal is to be a cheerleader (that way I can remain the dumbest person in the room, no offense to cheerleaders).
