If the school bullies got together to write a musical about how they’re the heroes actually...you’d get GREASE.
My husband did Grease for years in national tours. Met the guy who wrote it. He’s a reeeeeal piece of shit. He wrote the show about his shitty high school friends.
I always thought it was funny how the movie versions of both Grease and Oklahoma! end with the breeder pair driving off in their dream cars.
The inherent problem with Grease is that the songs, divorced from the show, are bangers. Well not all. There are a lot of shitty ones they cut out of the movie. But the stage version is way worse than the movie trust me.

I feel like this is going through puberty for musical theatre folk. It’s a rite of passage as you age, learning that Grease is actually pretty bad.
Sandy is the only redeemable one. But they tease her and gaslight her and Danny tries to sexually assault her... I have zero idea why she wants to be a part of this awful friend group.
They're merciless to Eugene and Patty Simcox. And in the stage show Cha-Cha is supposed to be ugly, it's just... groooooossssss.
