Just thinking out loud...😀

Coz that's what we do on Twitter, innit?

A thread on my thoughts...(beware, it's longish!)
I'm an avid admirer & supporter of all the important things Elon Musk achieved with Tesla, SpaceX & his other businesses.

However, re: the pandemic, I adhere to the recommendations of the medical authorities.
I practise social distancing & wearing a mask in public at all times.
I wash & sanitize my hands regularly.

In other words, irrespective of my huge regard for Elon & his very public musings in Twitter, I try to do what I feel is sensible for me and my loved ones: follow the sensible advice of the medical authorities.
Elon Musk is an adept First Principles thinker. When he sees a problem, he will contribute to trying to fix it, irrespective whether it's in his field of expertise or not.

Because of his big heart & willingness to help, people often level requests at him, with heartfelt pleas
When a leader of a rescue team in the now-famous Thai football boys crisis appealed to him for help, he saw the danger to the boys & immediately agreed, making a team of engineers available to work on an alternative plan to assist the rescue crews...just in case it was needed...
When asked by a school in Flint, Michigan to try and assist with their contaminated water crisis, he responded positively by donating ultraviolet water filtration systems & water stations to all 12 area schools, to the benefit of ~30,000 scholars.
When a hurricane destroyed the power grid in Puerto Rico & the authorities, incl the POTUS, dragged their feet, Elon Musk stepped up to assist in a humanitarian crisis & donated hundreds of Tesla Powerwalls to hook up to solar panels.
He sent funds + Tesla installation staff...
Earlier this year, when hospitals appealed to Elon for help in procuring PPE + much-needed ventilators, he obliged, went about searching internationally & secured ~1,000 non-invasive ventilators + truckloads of PPE, crucial in the combat against COVID.
The man has a very big heart, and some of these things he's done, was supposed to be done by the authorities. But politics often get in the way of effective national leadership.

I'm sure others did their bit during these crises as well.

But I say "Thank goodness for Elon Musk!"
Even though Elon is a brilliant FIrst Principles thinker and innovator, he is also just a human being, and make mistakes.

Like, IMO, at times musing very publicly on Twitter about very important, but polarising topics.
When Elon said earlier this year that coronavirus panic was dumb, it created an uproar!
But I fully agreed with him: Panic is always dumb; it doesn't solve anything.
Clear heads are needed to face crises.
I understood him, took recommended medical precautions & tried not to panic
My point is that Elon's very public "thoughts" on his current "2 positives, 2 negatives" test outcomes doesn't influence my own approach to the pandemic.

He's right to question his situation.

People & the media shouldn't misconstrue his musings & make him the COVID guru...
I'm not allowing myself to get emotional about this, because I understand that's Elon being Elon.
But I still don't let this influence my stance towards this pandemic.

The pandemic is a very real mortal threat, and I'm responsible for my own safety, and that of my loved ones....
So....give the man a break, understand what he's saying, understand that his First Principles way of thinking dictates that he questions EVERYTHING...this is the way to innovation!
Every single one of us have the intelligence to reason.

So use your own brains and do the right thing for yourself & your loved ones...

And for those still confused & in doubt, consult your local medical authorities. Please...

Stay safe people!🙏
