If someone defends me like this Imma cringe.

Ok real talk though, hounding someone you look up to for doing something wrong is not the right way to do it, because it will either send them into an extremely probable defensive mode, or make them go into sinking depression. https://twitter.com/melonfoxx/status/1327415946286338050
For me it was a slinking depression that lasted... well, yeah it's still kinda with me. There is no worse feeling than seeing someone you met ridicule and insult you for something that was done years ago

For those who will genuinely try to change, it tends to really fuck them up
Grant it, Ignoring a problem is not the right thing to do, and these are not easy conversations to have, or easy things to swallow.

I wish I had the answers but I don't, the best I can say is this...
Hold your friends accountable for when they may do something that makes you uncomfortable, and explain your feelings thoroughly when it does.

But also, and this is the important part, celebrate and encourage your friends when they do something good or push for self-improvement.
Because a good person is worth encouraging more than a bad person is worth insulting
