The idea that anyone is obliged to accept your apology is misguided. It may appear innocuous to you but it could be deeply injurious.

Genuine apologies are about changed behaviour & an earnest commitment to avoid repeating Vs the expectation of public forgiveness. https://twitter.com/filmupdates/status/1327645768749080577
No one owes you anything. The insinuation that they do is, quite frankly, fucking infuriating and partly a product of the decency politics of being the better person. It’s exhausting; releasing you from your guilt whilst carrying the trauma.

Apologise and then go do the work.
Or... accept that your apology was never about the aggressed and more about self preservation; saving face, keeping your job, keeping your customers, rehabilitating your brand. I think that SHOULD be litigated in this discourse; are you sorry or just sorry you got caught?
The arrogance of expecting that an APOLOGY be accepted on your own terms? The fuck? The more I cogitate on what he’s saying, the more incensed I am.

What’s coded in there is - it should suffice that I gave what I consider a heartfelt apology, why am I still being punished?
Conversely, have you seen or experienced instances of when the aggressor turns to rage because their egos are bruised from a rebuff that they’ve found emasculating.

So reductive to think any of this is just about YOU and how it ends because you’ve fucking apologised.

End.
