This deals with "Sentencing where there is aggravation related to transgender identity" and amends the Criminal Justice Act 2003. THIS is why 'transgender identity' is now a monitored strand for Hate Crime Purposes.

Did you know this? Did you notice? I didn't.

Because the big, big deal about LASPO was that it removed legal aid from a variety of matters. THAT is what got the attention, the headlines and the concern.

And into this Act someone slipped the characteristic of 'transgender identity'.

At least there is some attempt at a definition.

"In this section references to being transgender include references to being transsexual, or undergoing, proposing to undergo or having undergone a process or part of a process of gender reassignment.”

But we know that this IS NOT how the police are treating 'transgender identity' for the purpose of hate crime. Their definition appears to extend far, far, far beyond this.

So there you have it. Stealth law in action. It is going to be very difficult to unpick all this.

And not merely stealth. But outright misogyny.
