This #Bushiri circus is a reflection of a much much deeper problem:

1. The failure of state security to keep us safe.
2. The lack of coordination between the police investigating team & the border patrol services.
3. How government officials are constantly caught unaware.
Do you still think that this same government can do more complex tasks like create jobs, transform the economy or improve education & access to healthcare?

This incident is not an isolated failure of the state.

It’s the highlight of how the state fails you and me EVERYDAY.
Finally, how bad is our border patrol that a known criminal (yes I can call him that because he has breached a court order) whose face was all over TV for 2 weeks can simply leave - undetected or unreported?

Mark my words, there were some brown envelopes passed here.
So here is the program for the next 2 weeks:

The president will be shocked.
Ministers will call a media briefing & to tell us they will leave “no stone unturned”.
Ruling party trolls will fill our TL with surface tweets about how borders were worse during apartheid - or something like that.
The media will blast image & videos of Bushiri’s followers praying for him.

And in the circus, the search for truth is lost.
I want to live in a country where if a known criminal breaks bail conditions & skips the country, the Goverment bring him back to face the music ... before he even has time to post status on Facebook.

But maybe it’s just me.
