1. I respect pple with PhDs. Academics have their place in this world. The purpose of academics is to increase our depth thru research & patents. The purpose of innovators is to increase the breath by coupling the body of knowledge into functional products that solve problems

2. What we need especially in Zimbabwe is to improve our research capabilities. University professors shld not be going on strike for salaries, teaching should be a pasttime for them. Most of their wealth shld come from patents, research activities & other intellectual activities

3. Public Private Partnerships must be encouraged. The govt must also liberalize State institutions. The hand of government always muddies innovation & growth. I also think we have an immature financial ecosystem. We need a venture capital culture & more private equity activity

4. Having said this, let us not look down upon our learned people. They may not be able to buy flashy cars but if ever we will move this country forward we need them more. Remember breath plus depth means higher volume. Let's fix Zimbabwe everything else will fall in place.
