1/ 4 Racial capitalism: the process of deriving social & economic value from the unequal differentiation of human value. In this "era of anti-racism", white anti-racists continue to derive benefit through increased fame, money, advancements *at the expense of/instead of BIPOC*.
2/4 And, yet, when it is time to take a stand, speak up, risk for justice, there is often silence. Some have "special circumstances that prevent action", some are "reflecting on their complicity", but very few will RISK the benefits, relationships, money, promotion & protection.
3/4 "Anti-racist racial capitalism"... And, many BIPOC continue to promote white anti-racists because they are deemed more "palatable" to white people. This of re-centering whiteness IS the problem. There is abundance of Indigenous, Black & racialized voices to listen/learn from.
4/4 Important to note: A person of any race might engage in racial capitalism. BIPOC can also derive social and economic value from performing whiteness, engaging in anti-Black anti-Indigenous antics, between communities and sometimes against their very own communities.
