I am continually reminded of Neville Chamberlain whenever I see the U.S. media try these gimmicks. Appeasement never works and undermines credibility, while also deteriorates norms and standards. https://twitter.com/sewellchan/status/1327644697720811520
More impactful to all: do cutting-edge investigative pieces on how corporate/ultra-wealthy interests have been manipulating voters into voting against their interests for decades.

If all major media was doing this, and doing it on the regular, it'd be much more powerful.
Trying to understand Trump voter POVs is like entering into an alternate non-fact based reality.

This is because they've been fed lies for decades through various avenues--conservative talk radio, then Fox talk tv, lobbying groups, politicians, etc.
Liberals and moderates understanding their point of view is a futile effort to understand the point of view of someone brainwashed into believing something contrary to what is actually happening. That's not useful and may actually suck me down a rabbit hole.
Instead, charting piece by piece, in weekly or monthly articles or tv shows, how Trump voters became Trump voters may be helpful to EVERYONE.

Explain the disinformation campaigns. The attack on healthcare, welfare, minimum wage, immigrants, lgbtq, etc.
Explain who profits, and why. Explain how radicalizing groups to focus on guns and not better environmental laws is in the interest of Koch Industries. Break down the money given. Break down the people involved. Do this CONSTANTLY. Not once, but every week.
Also explain, point by point, how this HARMS the very voters who are bring brainwashed into supporting these efforts and voting this way. Make it simple and easy to understand. Put the whole picture together for all of us.
You want to be the Fourth Estate? You want to be of service to the nation. This is how you serve the country, this is how you serve our democracy.

This, this whole 'we turn our newspaper over to Trump people for a day'. It's performative appeasement garbage that is harmful.
