Something Trump figured out 4 years ago that everyone needs to understand too:
Right wing politics is defined and dominated by fear of multiculturalism. Their culture war is essentially paranoia about their way of life being tainted by other people and other ideas.

That’s why Trump was able to capture the attention of the right so completely: he spoke to their xenophobia. He staked out the most aggressively anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim position of any candidate. He spoke the Fox News language of slightly-softened white supremacy.
Trump ran on “building a wall” and “banning Muslims.” Those ideas were symbols of the right wing culture paranoia, and the message is clear: America is for Christian conservative whites and everyone else isn’t a “real American” (to use Palin’s wording).
This is white supremacy
This is white supremacy
So yes, Trump will be gone soon, but yes, Trumpism is here for a while - but everyone needs to realize that the driving forces here are xenophobia and white Christian cultural paranoia. THOSE are the things which predate Trump and which will outlive him.
