Key aspects/analysis of the @LabourMuslims report into Islamophobia in the Labour Party [thread]

The graphic below contains initial recommendations. The key areas being: a commitment to education on islamophobia and a code of conduct to be used by the Labour Party GLU.
Firstly the lack of acknowledgement of this report is damning... why is it not bigger news?

ONE day since its release & I see no formal statement from Keir, Angela or on the Party's accounts/website.

Allegedly the only response from them is yesterday's ITV Newsnight ⬇️
Labour was the first Party to adopt APPG BM definition of Islamophobia, but a definition with no follow-up actions don't erase issues.

Below are alarming statistics showing the consequences of Labour's failure to engage with Muslims & tackle Islamophobia.

Focusing on direct experiences of islamophobia, the report concludes that Labour must do the following: "work with key partners and stakeholders across the Muslim community to tackle the serious issue of Islamophobia within our party."

Here's some more horrifying stats⬇️
This article draws on the report's findings well.

The leader must "give serious consideration to the place Muslims occupy within the party, not least to confirm that the Labour Party is a safe place for British Muslims to exert their political voice.”

It is clear that the issue of Islamophobia is both current and historical (see the treatment of Muslims during the Iraq war & inception of PREVENT by Labour under Blair, for example).

This report should shake the leadership and force them into action, but time will tell ⬇️
Lastly, you can read the report written by @LabourMuslims here: http://labourmuslims.org/research .

It's a solid report with evidence & experiences detailing how Labour has gone wrong on Islamophobia, and how it can change. Muslims knew this long ago, I just hope the Party listens now.
