THREAD | FABIO SILVA
Fabio Silva was given some much needed minutes in the Wolves U21s fixture against Doncaster this week, and I’ve looked at some aspects of his game that will be relevant to what could be required of him in our first team! #wwfc
It is immediate obvious that he has good movement to receive in front of defenders well, often dropping in to help the team retain possession or combine with other forwards #wwfc
An area for improvement could be his ability in aerial duels. When he lost his marker and attacked the ball he was fine but under more physical contact he struggled somewhat. At 18, plenty of time to add this to his game #wwfc
What Silva did show was a real enthusiasm and intelligence in his pressing. U23s coach James Collins was full of praise for him in regards to this: "I also thought the way he showed intelligence today with the work around the defending was excellent." #wwfc
Fabio got himself into a couple of promising situations with good around the box but his efforts were erratic #wwfc
What can't be disputed though is the quality of his finishes. The first an instinctive effort from a tight angle, and the second a combination of determination and composure to grab a late winner #wwfc
To summarise, it was a great chance for Silva to improve his match sharpness and boost his confidence. Hard working, intelligent and clear predatory instincts - we may need to be patient but we should trust the club, Nuno and the player to ensure his potential is fulfilled #wwfc
