I broke all the rules of money Twitter, but still achieved FI and quit the rat race at 35.

Here are all the rules I broke, and why they are bullshit.

//THREAD//
I went to college.

College grads make more money than non-grads. Period.

I didn't always like college, but it was the best decision I ever made.
I had no side hustles.

No multiple streams of income. I didn't hustle day and night. I wasn't "leveling up" in my sleep, dreaming up new products in the shower.

I was a regular dude, just working.
I never started a business.

For 100% of my career, I worked to make someone else rich.

But in the course of doing that, I also made myself rich. My 9 to 5 job is the only way I built wealth.

You don't need to start your own million-dollar business to succeed.
I didn't hustle day and night.
I didn't have 15 streams of income.
I didn't go to an expensive out-of-state college.
I didn't have a $50K/month biz
I didn't win the lottery.
I didn't score an inheritance.
I didn't sell a business.
⇢ Here is what I DID do.

I asked for raises four times in my career and got a raise three times.

When you deserve more money, never hesitate to ask for fair compensation.

Your future depends on it.
I chose a high-paying career field.

I'm just going to say it: It's possible to make money in liberal arts, but the odds are against you.

Computer science isn't my passion. It's my strength.

I'm retired TODAY because I chose my strength as my career, period.
I moved companies five times in 14 years.

Nothing kills your chances of building wealth like a dead-end job.

Moving to another company is often your best chance at a substantial raise.

Do this regularly.
My wife and I saved 70% of our combined income.

A 70% savings rate will build wealth incredibly quickly.

Emergency fund? Done.
Short term savings? Done.
Long term investments? Done.
We tracked 100% of our expenses.

There was a time when my wife could tell you how much we spent on sweet potatoes over the course of the year.

Tracking expenses is the ONLY way to reduce your spending.
I married the right woman.

I didn't settle. I married a smart, professional woman who was ambitious and driven. She's an actual rocket scientist.

Ambition is sexy.
I talk about all this IN DETAIL in my eBook, Big Money.

At $9.97, it's seriously the best money you will ever spend to instantly boost your financial knowledge.
