They’re attacking @ReverendWarnock by twisting Rev. Dr. James Cone’s prophetic words because he promises to reshape government like Dr. Cone reclaimed Christianity:

Dethroning whiteness and power to tend the wounds of suffering people. /1
James Cone took Jesus back from racists who stole Christ to sanctify whiteness and wealth, and provide moral justification for 400 years of ongoing genocide.

He put it plain: “Any message that is not related to the liberation of the poor in society is not Christ's message.” /2
“Theology can never be neutral or fail to take sides on issues related to the plight of the oppressed.

It can never engage in conversation about the nature of God without confronting those elements of human existence which threaten anyone's existence as a person.” /3
Cone’s words indicted the whiteness that gleefully crucified Black people on lynching trees, and that same whiteness has never forgiven him for telling the truth. /4
He refused to let the powerful spiritually wash their hands of political bloodshed.

These words he wrote in 1970 remain tragically just as true as when he put pen to paper. And, then as now, whiteness wants us to suffer silently. /5
“The white view of Black humanity also has political ramifications. That is why so much emphasis has been placed on ‘law and order.’

Blacks live in a society in which Blackness means criminality, and thus ‘law and order’ means ‘get blacky.’" /6
Cone preached the true gospel with every breath: Collective liberation from the powers of sin and death—including freedom for white people whose hearts and minds have been imprisoned by hatred.

Rev. Warnock is promising to do the same, and it’s why folks are attacking him. /7
. @ReverendWarnock recognizes that, like theology, politics “must take the risk of faith, knowing that one stands on the edge of condemnation by the forces of evil.”

And he refuses to let that condemnation keep him from doing what is right. /8
This is the good news of the gospel, beating at the heart of Rev. Warnock’s campaign:

In a country that crucifies people of color, queer people, disabled people, women, and poor folks of every ethnicity—he fights unapologetically for liberation; for political resurrection. /9
Jesus weeps when 1 in 3 families can’t afford to feed their children in the wealthiest nation on Earth.

Jesus mourns 240,000 people killed by cruel indifference to their lives.

Jesus flips over tables of moneychangers who don’t want to pay a living wage. /10
And Christ is crucified in Black bodies—again and again—in our country that dares to call this justice. /11
. @ReverendWarnock will be a Senator who stands with suffering people *because* he was guided by Dr. Cone.

He knows that “Black history is the record of joy and pain,” and promises to transfigure the cruelty we’ve endured into politics of revolutionary love. /12
You have a choice Georgia: You can let fear and racism continue to hold our nation hostage, or you can vote for the love that will make us well.

Embrace hope, and the promise of collective liberation. /13 https://warnockforgeorgia.com
