Getting senators and representatives to divest stocks and other conflicts of interest is not a partisan issue. I raised this concern in a 2018 Minnesota Democratic primary and now we have a Republican Senator from Georgia who may have traded based on inside information.
Awful.
For a U.S. senator to trade stocks on the basis of material nonpublic government information is a felony under section 10b of the 1934 Exchange Act and Rule 10b-5 as well as the STOCK Act. Georgia voters should elect a senator who represents them, not her own portfolio.
