1/2 Been wondering this since we stunned the pollsters in 2017 in Alabama. We turned out people on Election Day that had no idea the day before that they would be voting and would have told pollsters they had no intention to vote.
2/3 both parties have data analytics and zero to 10 scale for every registrant on likelihood to vote. Look at record turnout. Trump surprise in 2016 and @DougJones in 2017. To large extent they were surprises over who voted.
Is it possible that both parties have gotten so good at targeting and turning out voters low on the scale - that polls can’t catch it?
You woke up to a Trump or Obama robocall and your sister pulls up and says “come on, you’re voting” and yesterday you hung up on a spam call?
