Oh so very many problems. I don’t understand this thinking. My daughter’s college hovering around 2%, sending scary, vaguely threatening, super dark emails to 18yr olds &we are all Agincourt and bravery with the babies and their teachers. Have you ever seen a Head Start class?
Sorry to blather but Head Start babies come from high COVID risk communities, and they need a great deal of help love & connection to learn. Which makes virtual learning horrible yes. But which also puts their teachers at MUCH HIGHER risk in person. 8-10% cuz mitigation? BABIES!!
STORY: teacher observation in a TX Head Start. Lesson was literally teaching them to sit on their square and look at a book. The lesson was SITTING for 5 minutes quietly (this is a learned skill really). Recorded # of times babies got up to play with friends and touch teacher.
This was a lesson she repeated daily because sitting still is associated with success and Head Start babies need every bit of help with being seen as successful. *Never* less than 50 incidents of touching friends & teacher. Usually much more. 5 minutes. Because 4 yrs old.
Head Start 8-10/class. I don’t know what the solution is but these babies will not be able to scrupulously adhere to the “mitigation strategies”& *they* may not be among Dr Gloria’s sure deaths 🧿 but Head Start serves the poor. COVID hits the poor. They will bring in to teachers
