This is what happens when "Tech Reviewers" don't know tech. Maybe we can call them glorified video editors or maybe fanboys. https://twitter.com/tldtoday/status/1326610187529023488
Oh for those of you wondering, this tweet was not for @LinusTech, but @tldtoday, and in layman's terms he is comparing a feature which is present in hardware to something which is emulated through software. So the latter being emulated will obviously be slow.
And btw, the conversation was never about Apple M1, it is about the benchmarking. And don't think a CPU is faster cause it exports a file faster, I mean it is definitely fast for that particular task, but we'll never know how the chip will perform in real world.
And for the people who review products, ik you folks put in a lot of effort into making these videos, definitely keep doing it, but don't throw out some baseless benchmarks. I mean if a person's daily work is to export videos sure, go ahead that benchmark will help them.
But it matters cause we do a variety of different tasks with our PC, and we would never be able to tell how it performs by some geekbench scores. Ik that misleading people might never be the intention of the creators but it happens.
Personally I feel Apple M1 might disrupt the current model where x86 dominates the PC space and making ARM more mainstream. 😌
