We consider the role of the #PHEIC in outbreak response.

We identify a clear evidence gap in knowledge of impact of #PHEIC - which needs to be filled prior to any reform

What happens when a #PHEIC is declared?

Answer: We dont know!
How are decisions made to declare #PHEIC? How do legal parameters of #IHR meet #politics - and why does this matter?

We consider current proposals on:
- intermediary / traffic light system
- regional declarations
- inclusion of pandemic
We call for any #IHR revisions to include:

- access to $ upon #PHEIC declaration
- #PHEIC declaration = immediate risk assessment for govs
- greater transparency in process of #PHEIC decisions
- greater equity in decision-making
- greater evidence base for impact of #PHEIC
