This could not be further from the truth. Conversely, FGS has conceded every single demand the opposition and the FMS leaders have made over the past six months.
Not only has FGS shelved the 1P1V electoral model and the National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) – both of which were legislated by parliament – it has also committed to holding elections on time and rendering the electoral process inclusive.
That is exactly what FGS has demonstrated so far as the makeup of members of the interim electoral commission have been drawn from FMS and FGS.
Thereby, what is this fuss is all about and what are the underlying factors driving the opposition frustrations?

The concerns raised by the opposition appear to have less to do with potential electoral fraud and have a lot to do with the opposition and their foreign sponsors recognising that they stand no chance to unseat the incumbent govt at the looming elections.
President Farmaajo, unlike his predecessors, remains very popular among Somalis of all walks of lives.

...delivering public goods, combatting corruption, creating jobs, restoring law and order, finalising the constitution, defeating violent extremist groups (VEGs), and among other notable goals.
While some of the above noted goals remain outstanding, however, it is agreed that under President Farmaajo’s leadership and steady hand, Somalia has achieved far more in three years than it did under the last four governments’ periods combined.
Considering the above and all things being equal, it is certain that the opposition candidates are destined for defeat at the next election.
Given this, it appears that the opposition thinking and strategy is to boycott the next election so that they save face on one hand and on the other hand to negotiate for the formation of Coalition govt after the election, which will be unlikely to come to fruition.
