Ok thanks for your patience folks!

CTAs are forthcoming so keep reading.

So, as you may be aware, my friday protest was at Rajan Sawhney’s office today, against the changes to AISH, the looming possibility of harmful cuts, and the latest from the Auditor General.

#AbLeg
Now, it ended up not being a protest in the end but a conversation with the Minister. I am not one to not give credit where it is due, so we’ll start there. A young woman named Kavin on AISH came out today (if you were at last Thursday’s rally, she spoke there) #AbLeg
who is circulating an official petition about these changes. Anyway, when we arrived, she had already gone into the Minister’s office to speak with her, so she ended up bringing the Minister out to speak with the rest of us for almost a full hour. She said she felt bad #AbLeg
for the anxiety and worry that people are feeling. @MommaHeats hit back with “ Feelings don’t pay rent”. Yes. She also asked if she could read all of our signs, since we’d made them.

ANYWAY, we asked multiple questions (there were 6 of us in all, incl. My 8 yo

#AbLeg
- speaking of, shout out and thanks to @MommaHeats for coming again today) and Kavin was asking some questions from a chat group she has with her friends - one of which was to ask if @jkenney would try to live on AISH money. Perhaps we should all email him to ask? #AbLeg
Just a thought.

NOW - the juice. Kavin was one of many that were affected by the date changes that happened, and she asked point blank if she would be reimbursed for NSF fees (this woman was on fire), and the Minister said 100% yes. (For those of you who haven’t seen #AbLeg
the payment date got switched to the first of the monthfrom a few days prior to the end of the month.) So we all followed up and asked if that would be applicable to ALL - to which she said yes. She DID try and walk that back later when we were trying to

#AbLeg
recap and summarize, BUT SHE SAID YES. If YOU or ANYONE you know had NSF charges, hold her to account on this. Email her, and tell her, and ask her for that money back.

A man named Jim also came to advocate for his daughter who could not attend.

#AbLeg
He had several pointed questions - but perhaps one of his most important was how many actual AISH recipients are being consulted while the review is being conducted. Allegedly it’s lots, but only one in particular was referenced so do with that

#AbLeg
what you will. He followed up to ask why no public notice has gone out for feedback, to which there was not a solid answer really, but she did say ANYONE concerned about how they will be affected can email her and she will respond. Again, hold her to this. The

#AbLeg
review is to be completed by the next month to month and a half and by then it may be too late.

Also, she said, NO increases will be made under the review (no duh there, but worth noting), so baseline is where it’s at now. So, don’t let up, and keep

#AbLeg
pushing back against the date change.

All in all, I think this was worthwhile. It’s a very odd location to try and get any kind of event going - but we made it work as best as we could.

Please keep emailing her - inundate

#AbLeg
her with these requests. She said to us she would respond to everyone, so let's see.

Sorry I feel like that was less exciting than you may have anticipated (haha like at Panda’s office) but important nonetheless.
