When Henry VI found out that he'd lost Gascony, he sat down and was like, "Well, chile, let me just sit here and stare into the abyss" and he was like that for two years.
Just in ye olde Plantagenet stupor.
Margaret of Anjou on her way to scheme with Somerset:
Margaret talking about her boy Somerset:
York causing trouble in the rest of the country:
Sorry, I sometimes am minding my own business and then crack myself up thinking about the Plantagenets for absolutely no reason.
York probably shouldn't have lopped off Somerset's head. A lot of things...could have been...uh, avoided had he exercised a little self-control.
Honestly, if he was going to kill Somerset, he probably should have gotten rid of all the Beauforts. But he did not, and that, ladies and gents, is how we got the Tudors, lmfao
Do you know how many things had to go wrong at exactly the right moment for the Tudors to end up on the throne? Real Rube Goldberg hours.
I kind of feel like the later Plantagenets did not have the aversion to kinslaying that some other dynasties did. 😨
They really did not mind killing cousins, brothers, nephews, uncles, etc.
Everybody when Edward announces he's married Elizabeth Woodville in secret and Warwick is about lose his fucking mind:
I feel like that dinner party was -tense-
I feel like Edward's situation has a lot to offer us at the moment, bahahakdlsahldksahdlkashdas
Here he was, trying to heal a fractured nation. Trying to bridge gaps between nobles who had literally been on opposite sides of a very ugly and very costly civil war. And he's like, let's all just make up and put our past behind us for our sake.
And then he marries the daughter of a noble who definitely was, uh, plotting his death and fighting a literal war against him. And he's like, see, we can call get along. But turns out, he underestimated how much, uh, they hated each other.
The nobles who had supported Edward and put him on the throne were unwilling to forgive and forget. They wanted HEADS TO ROLL. And the nobles who Edward had welcomed back into the fold were suspicious of his motives and also still hated him and everyone else.
And, uh, well, you know what happened next. lmfao dksahdlkashdas
I mean, no, but he definitely should not have married Elizabeth Woodville. He absolutely should have married the French princess. That was a real airball on his part.
What he should have done was behead the rebels who had actively fought against him, but let their heirs keep some of their rents. And he should have married the French princess. That's what he should have done.
But he did not do that because he wanted succ succ and wanted to kiss and make up and people were NOT ready for that.
Lol, Edward so determined to stick it to Warwick, he invited a BURGUNDIAN to his party, and the French packed up their toys and LEFT because as we all know, the Burgundians and the French are NOT BFFs.
I would like to know what Edward thought was going to happen when he turned his back on Warwick. Like, the man literally made his name putting an ambitious Plantagenet on the throne. Did Edward really think Warwick WOULDN'T try it again with Clarence? PLS MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
Warwick doing to the Woodville what York should have done to the Beauforts is
Anytime Warwick enters the scene:
This is SENDING ME.
dklsahdlskahdaslkhdsa
Chile
Warwick when Edward tracks him down
Edward was trying to make friends, and ends up chopping HEADS, honey.
The Woodvilles really overplayed their hands. Imagine having to fuck around to find out about the Plantagenets, lmfao 😶
The Woodvilles should have followed Edward's will and let Richard be appointed protector. But no, they did not do that. And instead made a POWERFUL enemy. 😬
The Woodvilles had an advantage. They would come out on top in the end. It would have been fine. But no. They tried for a total victory and what happened. The whole lot of them. Dead.
Richard sent them little boys to the tower, and I--
I'm watching a docudrama thingy by Dan Jones right now, and the number of times he'd had to say, about various Plantagenet antics, "...I don't think he thought it through." Just out here causing chaos and having nary an endgame in sight.
I mean, Richard really did get himself into a real pickle.
Richard probably should not have executed Hastings. In retrospect...that was probably...uh, a shade too far.
I do not recall tweeting about The Wars of the Roses, but I stand by it.
Margaret Beaufort was just trying to secure the bag.
WAIT. Is that why Dan Jones is always wearing jackets on TV?! He has tattoos?! I NEVER KNEW.
I do kind of like that by the time Richard III usurped the throne, Margaret was like, "E N O U G H. Y'all gotta go. Y'all gotta GO."
