Laura Tingle on endless misogyny. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-11-14/morrison-porter-same-problem-again-and-again/12881634
odd that Laura Tingle was not distracted by these mysterious forces that magically directed the rest of the press gallery to cover a story about one non-government MP instead of the endemic and constitutive misogyny of the Morrison government.
after pretending the press gallery has no agency over their collective decision to cover a nobody who can not effect their access to power instead of the Attorney General, Murphy pretends the toxic misogyny Morrison displayed to the world is an exception. Nope. It is the rule.
the assumption that only women are offended and insulted by misogyny also puzzles me. Of course we bear the brunt of it, but surely it sells men short to assume their entire gender also embraces and excuses such a dangerous, harmful and toxic force - in politics and society.
Tuesday morning’s courtyard “rebuke” was sparked by Morrison’s toxic misogyny, which of course is emblematic of a prime ministership which emerged from a wave of misogynist bullying that was reported at the time by asking *if* the Liberal Party has a women (ie misogyny) problem.
courtesy of the misogyny of Tony Abbott, the murdoch press, and the entire Liberal Party, like Turnbull mansplaining Jan Fran and head misogynist Scott Morrison, we know what misogyny in politics looks like. It NEVER GOES AWAY. Consigning it to the past is part of the problem.
the level of feminist literacy in the press gallery is so low you wouldn’t trip over it while rushing to indulge the member for Hunter in the corridors of power.
