a deep dive into the birth chart of karl marx.
[thread]
let’s start with his ascendant & ascendant ruler. right off the bat, those who are aquarius risings are free-thinking and practical. they often want to preserve structures (saturn) that work and abolish ones that fail.
his ascendant ruler, saturn, was located in the 2H of finances & possessions. saturn was his malefic out of sect, aka his most negative placement. this explains why being impoverished was an ongoing struggle for him throughout his life.
he also had pluto conjunct saturn in the 2H, which i find interesting because pluto can represent delving deep to uncover hidden matters. and as we know he had a percipient analysis of the limitations (saturn) of a capitalist economic system (2H).
the first thing that caught my eye in his chart, though, was his midheaven conjunct uranus in the 11H. his career & legacy (MC) was producing radical (uranus) theory with engels, his close friend (11H).
the next thing that really stands out is his taurus stellium located in his 4H of family. so, so many revolutionary leaders have prominent taurus placements. its planetary ruler, venus, often coincides with revolutionary archetypes.
with these energies in his 4H, the importance & love of family is stressed. it also gives the ability to create strong foundations, whether that is physical or philosophical.
unfortunately, though, he had some negative familial placements as well. the ruler of his 8H of death was located in his 5H of children. he had three children who died in infancy and one who died at age 8 from tuberculosis.
it was said that one of the only things that kept him going following his son’s death was his close friendship with engels. the ruler of his 11H of friends was jupiter, the planet of good fortune, located in his 12H of mental health.
he had pleasant relationships in general- the ruler of his 7H of partnerships was a well-placed sun, conjunct venus in its domicile. venus is the benefic of sect or the most positive placement. he had a very loving & successful marriage with jenny marx.
he had mercury in its domicile of gemini, which accounts for him being a prolific writer & intellectual. with mercury in the 5H, he went about these activities in a creative way. he at one point in his life wanted to be a poet & playwright.
mars, in its joy in the 6H, gave him the determination to complete work (6H topic) even when he was suffering, especially from physical ailments. (another 6H topic)
but mars is still a malefic, and with it located in the house of physical health, he spent a good portion of his life chronically ill. mars rules things like scars/inflammation, and he suffered from carbuncles.
he had jupiter in the 12H, which i do think brought him some luck in 12H topics, such as when he was acquitted after standing trial for incitement to revolt. (12H rules imprisonment)
however, jupiter was in opposition to mars, so eventually the negative significations prevailed. having jupiter, the planet of abundance, in the 12H of hidden enemies and exile, seemed to signify a literal abundance of enemies and countries he was expelled from.
he dealt with police spies and was exiled from prussia & france. he ended up in london although britain would deny him citizenship as well.
to finalize this before it gets too long: i briefly looked at his zodiacal releasing, and when releasing from the lot of spirit, i noticed he was in an L1 & L2 peak period when the communist manifesto was published.
