Friends, Romans, Xboxfolk. It's been a long and rewarding week. On Monday we added EA Play to the Game Pass Ultimate on Console subscription and revealed a slew of features my team has been cranking on for the last several months. Here are a few.
We did a bunch to add those subscription badges to the games. These are based on how you're entitled to that game -be it Game Pass or Gold or EA Play etc. The goal was to make sure ya'll understand what you might have waiting for you and browse through those catalogs later.
Filtering the games down on the Game Pass app to just the ones that you can play with your current subscription was another big piece.
There were a ton of moving pieces! Members who had both Ultimate and EA Play already had to be notified ahead of time, and then their accounts converted. EA Play needed to be added to the purchase flow for Ultimate in order to ensure gamers could compare and contrast options.
We actually introduced a new feature internally just to test the integration end to end with our accounts (and EA's). There were a ridiculous number of people to thank for making this reality.
Ultimately (ha), we pulled it off! Launching something this big is always fun and exhausting, and doing it with EA Play and Game Pass and then a day later with the Xbox Series X|S consoles has been the kind of mania you only get to experience a few times in your career.
