Weekly deaths from ONS adjusted for record highs / lows from the past 5 yrs. Adjusted for population growth.

Note: deaths broadly in line with normal seasonal variations no unexpected spike!!!

So what does this mean?

The blue line is the highest record deaths for that week in the last 5 years.

The grey line the lowest ever record for that week.

This gives us a upper and lower range of records we can compare to 2020.

Adjusted for population growth each year.
We can use this chart to see how 2020 breaks records and where deaths for 2020 set new record highs.

Week 44 was a new record high, 26 deaths more than the previous high for week 44.
Using averages which is what ONS have done ignores population growth and implies 2020 is breaking records in weeks when it isn't.

This also shows you that deaths are broadly following a NORMAL seasonal pattern at present.
This also shows that deaths from, of, with covid as underlying cause are taking people who would likely have died from another cause at this time of year anyway. Likely flu or other respiratory diseases.

At this time there is no 2nd wave of deaths overall.
Note: deaths from now until January 2021 will continue to increase.

This is NORMAL.

The media will hype deaths, but you should expect them ro rise up to 13,000 per week by christams and peak in January before falling back again.

This is statistically Normal!
Coming soon 2020 variations compared to normal variations of deaths week to week.

This will tell us beyond doubt if the increase in deaths up to week 44 is normal seasonal pattern or not.
