Re how we are handling the pandemic...

There's a bit in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy where he talks about the importance of having a towel.
1/
People in the series generally look down on hitchhikers. If you have a towel, though, people think you also have lots of other things and they're more willing to help you out if you happen to have misplaced them.

In short, while somewhat useful a towel is a leading indicator of responsibility and seriousness and not so much the ultimate useful thing itself.

I bring this up because it reminds me of masks in our current environment. Regular masks that many wear (not the hazmat or N95 ones) don't block 100% of the virus, but they block some.

Like the towel, though, wearing a mask indicates a degree of responsibility and seriousness about the pandemic and the choices you make to keep you and others safe.
5/
So, don't forget your towel. And wear your mask.
