A lot of journalists have written about my involvement in the Harper's letter and its fallout, and only four have reached out to me for comment, one of whom lived in Poland and one of whom was a college journalist.

That trend apparently continues.

Ideological diversity is important within newsrooms. I believed this in July, and I believe it now. It's also important in articles complaining about the lack of ideological diversity in newsrooms.

If your ideological diversity does not have room for trans people or people of color to say, "Hey, this seems like it might have some bad ideas in it," then it's not ideological diversity.

I'm aware this is again poking a thoroughly poked bear, but the Atlantic piece made this rumor worse, so: I did not report anybody to HR. HR never talked with me about my letter. My letter was filed to Vox Media's "letters to the editor" program, which has nothing to do with HR.

If any journalists had asked, I would have gladly released my HR records from that week, because they're all about helping me get the waves of angry harassment directed at me under control, a thing a lot of people conveniently forget happened to me.

Here's an email from June 12 announcing the letters to the editor program. I've erased names of Vox Media people who are not involved. What's more, I was far from the only person within VM to file letters pertaining to the Harper's letter.

One reason I spend so long in that letter saying, "I don't want there to be any reprisal" is because I knew the people who this was being filed to, and I knew they would believe me when I said that. I just wanted to more officially register my disappointment, so I did.

If I had the power to destroy ideological diversity at Vox Media, I would simply hold it over the company's head so I could demand way more money than I currently make.
