I am so tired of the dark side of gaming culture, you have no idea. Well, maybe you do. People could have gotten hurt or died. For what?

Apparently the hostage situation at Ubisoft was a swat, meaning someone called in a false report and that report resulted in police action.

Can you imagine being a developer and not only having to live with crunch culture (which, btw, is also part of the dark side of gaming culture), review dumps and other crap people pull because they don't like something you've done. Death threats are common. Read that again.

Common. As in it happens OFTEN. And now swatting. People not being safe in their workspaces.

If this is, as I've heard rumored, because AC Valhalla has playable women and are trying to be accessible to marginalized folx, can you imagine how that feels?

Someone is so opposed to me enjoying a game that they're prepared to cause physical and certainly mental harm to developers to prevent them from developing games for me and other marginalized folx.

Gaming culture is FUCKED. We need to do something about it. RIGHT NOW.

Before something really awful happens. Before we're all so scared to create anything outside of what a small minority of gamers want - & yes, they are a minority. But they are loud & they are amoral & unethical & they're prepared to use any means to stop gaming from changing.

But guess what? There are SO many devs who are tired of the minority's bullshit. I know so many good people trying to change the games industry from the inside and we will succeed. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.
