This reads like a parody of Apple computers but apparently it's legitimate.

The new Macs send a hash of every program you try to run to Apple servers and if you get a "No" you can't run that code (or if no internet?).

LOL.

I feel like this is exactly what Apple users deserve.

Maybe in the future they can expand this to sending a screenshot of the screen to Apple every 5 seconds and if it doesn't get approved or if you didn't keep up with monthly payments then your screen goes blank?
The ultimate evolution of Apple computers, the Apple Omega will be exquisitely beautiful and have a 40-day battery life.

But no keyboard or mouse.

It'll just do everything for you.
It will literally switch itself on when it chooses and show you stuff on the screen in accordance with Apple policy.

And the iSheep will love it!
I have an Asus Laptop and I am PROUD that I have had to repair the plastic that attaches the screen to the hinge with superglue twice in the first 12 months of ownership.

You know why?

BECAUSE WHEN I WANT TO RUN A PROGRAM IT DOESN'T ASK ASUS FOR FUCKING PERMISSION

The thing is, people still buy it. And they will still buy it; Apple could go a lot further, most people place a lot of value on the nice aesthetics and shinyness, and not much value on being in control of their machine.
We are heading towards a pay-as-you-go future; imagine the ink cartridge business model, but for absolutely everything tech-related in your life.

Everything will come with infinite ads and restrictions and you'll be bled dry if you want the thing to do what you want it to do.
In theory this could be more efficient, but in practice all it does is create monopolies with fat profits and huge moats.
